CONVENTION AT METHVEN

Sir, —Jn a recent issue of the Hkrald it was stated in a Press Association message from Christchurch that the religious camp at Methvcn was attended by a sect known as "Coneyites." L wish to state that the conference held there from December 17 to 20 had no connection with any sect of that name and no man of the name of "Coney" or "Cooney" was ever our founder, overseer or the author of our doctrines, and therefore the application of the above name to us has no foundation in fact. We have never taken or recognised any other name than Christian and regard any other name as dishonouring to Him who died to redeem us. The reason for the. movement is because of the drift of all religions from New Testament Christianity, and an earnest attempt to return to its purity, simplicity and sincerity. Methvcn. W. J. Hughes.
