EXPLOSION IN MISSION

HOUSE-BOY'S MISTAKE BENZINE FOR KEROSENE [from our own correspondent] APIA, Jan. 1 A serious burning accident occurred at the Latter Day Saints' mission at Sauniatu, on the south coast, on Christmas Eve. It appears that a house-boy filled a primus stove with ben/.iuo instead of kerosene and pumped it to a high pressure. A few minutes after lighting it there Avas an explosion and flaming fluid was thrown all over the room. Three of the young missionaries were present and all were more or less burned before tlie flames •were extinguished. They were removed to the Apia General Hospital, but it was over four hours before they arrived, as there was no vehicle obtainable for their transport. However, they are progressing favourably, but it wil] be some time before they leave the institution.
