SEIZURE OF PALOS
BERLIN'S ULTIMATUM EXPIRY OF TIME LIMIT (Received January 8, 0.25 p.m.) BERLIN, Jan. 8 The time limit fixed by Germany for the release of the passenger and part of the cargo taken from tho freighter Palos expires this morning but there is no indication as to what steps Germany proposes to take after the Valencia Government's failure to comply with the warning from Berlin. No comment appears this morning in the Berlin newspapers on the expiry ol the warning. A message from Lisbon, probably based on an earlier broadcast by General Dell ano from Seville, states that the Government at Valencia is preparing a full explanation to be sent to Germany respecting the seizure of the Palos, and is also arranging to restore the seized cargo and the passenger.

IRISH VOLUNTEERS TRANSPORT'S NON-ARRIVAL LONDON, Jan. 7 Because of the non-arrival of a liner to transport them to Spain, 000 Irish volunteers, who had assembled at Waterford, returned home presumably to await further orders.
