OMISSION OF NEW PLYMOUTH : I | AMENDED ITINERARY SOUGHT s [bv telegraph—OWN cor respondent] I NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday The New Plymouth civic and port | authorities are dissatisfied with the ) itinerary of calls to be made to New Zealand ports by ships of the visiting ; Australian naval squadron in April and j representations have been made to the authorities to have the itinerary amended to include New Plymouth. The itinerary includes eleven ports j but excludes New Plymouth, and sur- j prise was expressed by the borough authorities and the Harbour Board when the announcement was made. The Mayor, Mr. E. I{. C. Gilmour, this afternoon made representations to the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, by telegram and to the Australian Naval Hoard by cable suggesting that at least two vessels of the squadron should call at New Plvmouth.
