The itinerary includes eleven ports j but excludes New Plymouth, and sur- j prise was expressed by the borough authorities and the Harbour Board when the announcement was made. The Mayor, Mr. E. I{. C. Gilmour, this afternoon made representations to the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, by telegram and to the Australian Naval Hoard by cable suggesting that at least two vessels of the squadron should call at New Plvmouth.
