NEW CAPITAL ISSUES PAST YEAR IN BRITAIN (Received January 7, <s.:> p.m.) British Wireless 11UC»D\, Jan. 0 N<-w capital issues in the United Kingdom last year totalled £217,221 ,000. This was close upon £19,000,000 less than in 1!W0, the last year before the world depression, and compares with £88,600,000 ill UJI, from which date a, consistent annual recovery has been maintained. Of last year's issues the municipalities and public boards group accounted for £'181,000,000, the railways group for £31,250,000, and the coal, iron, steel and engineering industries, including motors and aviation, for nioro than £22,250,000. The investment and finance group approached £22,000,000. COPRA EXPORT DUTY LEVY AGAIN IMPOSED The Press Association agent at Rarotonga reports that advice has been received that the New Zealand Government has reimposed a duty on copra at the rate of 20s a ton, to operate from December >') l. Owing to the lowprice of copra this export duty was suspended on exports from the Cook Islands on January 1, 1930. The latest quotation from London for sun-dried copra was £l9 17s 6d a toil.
