Watson, secured their third victory-I and thus won the trophy from Auc|<- j land. The fifth race, held this morning, I was won by Christcburch. Detailed re- j suits of the series are: —Plininierton, 3 j wins; Christchurch, "2; Auckland, 1. The fifth race was sailed in a fresh I westerly breeze, and started at 11.20 a.m. The course was off Mount j Maiinganui, a distance of about six j miles. Auckland was first away, fol- j lowed by Whangarei, Manukau, Ham- | ilfon, Wellington, Tauranga, Pareniata, Plininierton, Christcburch and Eyttelton. A little later Manukau went to the front and Plininierton moved into second place, with Tauranga and Christcburch close up. Christchurch Takes Lead On the run back to the number one buoy ('hristehiirch took the lead, Plininierton lying next. Pareniata broke its spinnaker boom and retired. The finishing times were:—Chrislijhurch, 12h ISm Ks; Pliinmerton, 12h J S'm 4."is; Auckland. 12b 19nt 50s; Tauranga, 12h P.liii -Ms; .Manukau, 12h 20m 275; Wellington, 12b 211n 51s; Hamilton, J2h 23m os; Lyttelton, 12h 2 fin 50s. There was a steady westerly breeze for the sixth race, which started at p.m. Pliinmerton took the lead early in the race and held it until their spinnaker skied. Manukau then sailed to the front, followed by Christchurch, Tauranga. Wellington. Plininierton, Auckland, Whangarei and Pareniata. lu the, second round Christchurch gained the lead, with Tauranga in second place. Capsize ol Craft On the last leg the Christchurch boat capsized when about a quarter ot a mile from the finish and Plininierton then secured the lead and won. The finishing times were: —Pliinmerton,_ ."ill 42ni 355; Tauranga. .'ill 43m 555; Wellington, iih 46ui 10 s; Whangarei, •>h 48m -Lis; Manukau, 'ill 49m los; .Auckland. .'ill 501n 20s; Pareniata, -'ill 51 in 225. Lyttelton retired during the first, round and Hamilton and Christchurch capsized. "Pliinmerton won the third, fourth and sixth races ol the series. The monotype championship will be sailed to-morrow.
