AUSTRALIAN MINISTER
VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND CANBERRA, .Tnn. c> Tho Postmaster-General, Mr. A. J. McLnelilan, will leave Sydney at tho end of tho week for New Zealand to represent tho Commonwealth Government at the annual congress in Auckland of the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science. Mr. A. J McLachlan was born in South Australia in 1872, and received his education at the Hamilton (Victoria) Academy and Mount Gambier High School and at Adelaide University. Ho was called to the Bar in 1R95, and practised his profession in Adelaide. He has been a member of the Senate since 1020, and was an Honorary Minister until 1929, acting: as Attorney-General in 1926-27, and again in 1932. He lias been VicePresident of the Executive Council since 1932, and led tlie Australian delegation to Geneva in 1928, signing the Briand-Kcllogg Pact as plenipotentiary. He is a director of various insurance and industrial companies.
