WOMEN'S DIVISION
Riverhead. —The December meeting of this branch was held recently, when the president, Mrs. Levy, presided. The prize for the afternoon was won by Miss Jean Xewlove. The children's Christmas tree party was abandoned, but each child received a gift. Later a successful dance wis held in aid of women's division funds.
Towai. —A plain and fancy dress ball was belli for children and adults at Towai. The children enjoyed themselves thoroughly until 10 p.m., after which the adults were entertained. Pukekohe. — I The last meeting of the Pukokohe branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union for 19.36 was held recently. Arrangements for the coming drama festival were discussed and Mrs. Morrin donated two books of suitable plays. A toy competition was won by Mrs. Flliott. The sponge cake competition was won by Mrs. Wymer. A children's party arranged by the Pukekohe Women's Division was held in the Parish Hall, about <lO children attending. (lames and competitions were enjoyed. Pukekohe Fast. —The Pukekohe East branch met recently. Arrangements were made for a picnic to lie held on January 16. Mrs. Lewis Morgan demonstrated the making of artificial flowers from wood fibre. Afternoon tea was served. A flower competition was won by Mrs. S. Hamilton, and a Christmas novelty competition by Mrs. S. Morgan. Te Kohanga.—The final meeting of the year was held in the Public Hall, Mrs. Lawson presiding. Two new members were welcomed and enrolled. Business was dealt with, after which Mrs. Samplugh gave an interesting demonstration 011 hairpin work. The roll call was for Christmas gifts for the children in the Auckland Hospital, the response being particularly good. Pukekawn. —Mrs. Brewster presided over a good attendance. Two new mem hers were enrolled. Competitions resulted as follows: —Sweet peas (ti). Miss P. Mason; best bloom, Mrs. Hawke; sponge sandwich, Mrs. Mason. Hostesses were Mesdames Mason, Aldridgc, L. Logan and Miss Brewster. A Christmas tree was held for the Pukeka wo children, when about HO children received gifts. Parents and their friends were entertained by the children with songs and dances.
