FUNCTION IN LONDON NEW ZEALAND GROUP [FKOM OUR OWN CORKKSI'ONDKN'I'J LONDON, Dec. 1» The reception and ball given by the New Zealand Group of the Royal Empire Society last evening was one of the lirst of these functions to be held in the new premises in Northumberland Street. Sir Archibald Weigall (chairman of tho society's council), Lady Weigall, Mr. W. J. Jordan (High Commissioner) and Mrs. Jordan received the guests. Only an hour or ho be fori; the ball began the High Commissioner returned to London from Geneva, where he had been attending a session of the Council of the League of Nations. These functions are always a pleasant means of bringing New Zealanders together for a few hours from all parts of the city, and are invariably well attended. Last evening the guests included Mr. Walter Nash, Minister of Finance, and members of his staff'. The society's ballroom, which may also be used as a reception hall and lecture room, makes an attractive setting for dancing, and its balcony is popular with those who wish rather to watch the dancing than to participate.
