To get a beige or old ivory shade when dyeing gloves or stockings, or lace, put a little cold tea in water. The dye will be quite permanent, and can also be used for dyeing silk or cotton for darning. Eucalyptus extract, lightly rubbed on white kid shoes, will effectively remove stains. If the tap water runs rusty and stains the clothes, apply soap at once and stand for several minutes. The rust will then wash out without any trouble To clean currants put them in a colander with a sprinkling of flour and rub them round briskly with your hand. If tennis balls are brushed after use with a stiff brush, then rubbed in whiting and kept in a dark place in an airtight box, they will last twice as long. Never wet tennis balls.
