GREAT WICKETKEEPER
OLDFIELD CONGRATULATED LILLEY'S RECORD BROKEN W. A. Oldfield has received a letter from the daughter of the late Mr. A. A. Lillev, England's greatest wicketkeeper of the past. It was addressed: "W. A. Oldfield, wieketkeeper, Australia," and the postal officials did not need any further information. The letter was by air mail and was sent from Heme Bay,' Kent. It read: Dear Mr. Oldfield, —1 feel 1 must write and congratulate you in breaking father's record; ho, I know, would be the first to do so. Naturally, I was very proud of the record, and it has been held by him for a long time, hasn't it? He had some very happy memories of Australia, and often talked of them to us. This will let you know that we, as a family, wish you all the best of luck in the future. With very kind thoughts, yours sincerely. Frances M. Jones.
Arthur Augustus ("Dick") hi 1 ley kept wickets in ;51 matches for England against Australia. He caught Go and stumped 19, or 81 wickets in all. W. A. Oldfield has taken part in .'il matches, not including that at present in progress in Melbourne. Lilley died seven years ago at the age of 72.
