EPSTEIN'S DAUGHTER

WORK AS SHOP ASSISTANT FORMERLY ARTIST'S MODEL Among the thousands of office workers journeying by tube, train, car or bus to London on a recent morning was Miss Peggy Jean Epstein, liappy 18-year-old daughter of the sculptor, Mr. Jacob Epstein. Miss Epstein, golden-haired with a creamy complexion, was an artist's model and later a blender of powders and scents in a beauty parlour. She is now assistant in the art department of one of London's biggest and most famous book stores. But, although Miss Epstein knows quite a lot about art. and has often sat as model to her father, she is not allowed to try to sell art to any of tho customers in her department. She has only to watch others buying and selling art, and to try to learn how it is done. "Do you think you will like your new job?" she was asked. "Yes," she replied. "I think so. When I arrived back from America mother thought it would be a good idea if I went to work instead of just sitting about. Yes, it is much better than the beauty shop, and more educational, too."
