The wife of the president elect. Sir David Knott, Lady Hivett, "ho herself holds a science rlecrce,' hopes to arrive in Auckland short Iv. Sir David and Lady Rivett Lave only recently returned to Australia from a seven months' tour abroad when, owing to the illness of delegates, they were the sole Australian reprepentatives at the British Commonwealth Science Congress. Among women members from Australia who expect to be taking part in the <*on"ress are -Miss Janet Raff, of the Agricultural School at the Mel bourne "University, who specialises in entonio3o(TV; Miss Jean Alexander and Miss R. Mercer,. Society of Chemical Industry of Victoria, and Miss R. Sugden, M'Sc., Melbourne University. Mrs. C. Jj Butchers, wife of the secretary of the Pharmaceutical Society, Mrs. C. P. Tnvlor, Mrs. A. T. S. Sissons, wife of •the principal of the College of Pharmacy, and Mrs. B. L. Stanton, are all interested in the Pharmaceutical section of the congress, of which Dr. Stanton is president. . Others who will accompany their husbands are Mrs. E. S. Hills, wife of Dr. Hills, university lecturer in geology; Mrs. H A. Mullett, wife of the Director of Agriculture; Mrs. J. W. Audas, wife /if the Director of the National Herbarium, and Miss M. N. Audas; Mrs. L. Paries, M.A., wife of Dr. Davies, of the Chemistry School, [Melbourne; and Mrs. F. 6. Morgan, wife of the director of the.serum laboratories. Others who hope to be present are Miss R. D Chisholm, of the Emily Mcpherson College of Domestic Economy; Miss Danglow, M.A., Miss H. M. Doery, B.Sc., Miss M. K. Doery; Mrs. D. W. Grav; Miss K. Hall. B.Sc., Miss B. M. Leeper, Miss Isobel Nairn, Miss M. Agnew, and Miss P. Bendall. Although the congress is scheduled to cover a wide variety of subjects, many topics to be discussed are of great interest to women. The association comprises 16 sections and there will be joint discussions, by several sections on subjects such "as mineral deficiencies, preservation of marine structures, weed control, migration (past and present), education of native peoples, influenza virus, hydatoid disease, nervous impulses, vitamins, arid and semi-aria regions, and South Pacific exploration.
