C HE ISTCHURCH CATHEDBAL SYMPATHY WITH ORGANIST DEAN DECLINES TO COMMENT Tbt telegraph —PP.ESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Monday Following the of Dr. J. C. Bradshaw, organist of Christchurch Cathedral, it is understood that nearly all the adult members of the choir have tendered their resignations to Dean Julius. Dr. Bradshaw's resignation takes effect in March, but it is understood that the choristers asked to be relieved of their duties within a month. Dean Julius said this morning that he had nothing to say concerning the matter, except thai the Cathedral Chapter would not hold a meeting until next month. Dr. Bradshaw's resignation was tendered, it is believed."partly on account of a difference between h'.m and the chapter in regard to the disciplining of choir boys. Some of the boys' parents are said "to have complained that choristers were given impositions for misbehaving, and were kept up late at night writing lines. The choir boys attend the Cathedral Grammar School, and one version of the affair is that certain friction developed between Dr. Bradshaw and the headmaster of the school. It is understood that Dr. Bradshaw tendered his resignation, but the dean and the chapter asked him to consider the matter for a week. Dr. Bradshaw. however, according to a report, did not withdraw his resignation, and it was accepted by the chapter. It is stated that the action taken bv adult members of the choir in tendering their resignations tvas due to tivmpaihy with Dr. Bradshaw.
