HAWKE'S BAY HORSES COMMENT ON RECENT FORM [by telegraph OWN* correspondent] HASTINGS. Monday The racing at the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's summer meeting was very interesting and several promising young horses were seen in action, notably Gay Hunter, Fossicker, Jazz Boy and Skyway. Jazz Boy won both the novice events in easy style. On Saturday he cleared right away from the start and never gave the opposition a chance. Jazz Boy looks as if he will develop into a good performer. He is by Arausio from Poi Girl, Cockpit from Hula Girl, by Demosthenes. Poi Girl, when carrying Jazz Boy, was purchased at Mrs. M. A. Perry's dispersal sale bv Mr. O. Nelson for 21 guineas. The three-year-old Gay Hunter had five starts during the holiday meetings and was placed on each occasion. With a little luck on his side he would have won at least four races, instead of one outright win, a dead-beat for Jirst, two seconds and a third. The Hunting Song colt should be capable of winning in better company. Skyway is a hardy customer and he should do good service for Mr. T. Fraser, who also owns Sporting Blood. Count Siegfried, the half-brother to Nun Nicer, opened his winning account on Saturday but the field he defeated was not strong. He is raced in partnership by Mr. R. Chesney and Mr. C. Hazlett, who also owns Modern Maid. Sir Nigel's two races at Hastings should do him a lot of good and lie may perform well the next time lie is produced.
