TROUT FISHING
ANGLERS UNFORTUNATE POOR CONDITIONS GENERAL Anglers as n class have been particularly unfortunate over the holiday season. The heavy rain and the high level of the rivers and streams have made trout fishing almost impossible, particularly in the 'l'aupo area, although, -with an improvement in the weather, future prospects are held to be promising. From Toknnnu yesterday it was reported that only occasional fish wore being taken from the rivers and that throughout last week there had hardly been a day on which it was worth while fishing. Trolling parties had reasonable success on Lake Taitpo yesterday. The fish are stated to be in good condition for this time of the season, with a fair average weight. Similar experiences with regard to fishing conditions have befallen anglers in the Hotorua district, but isolated reports have been received of individual parties enjoying good sport in some parts of the Waikato River. However, the season so far lias generally been disappointing and overseas anglers in particular are hoping for a rapid improvement in conditions.
