Captain G. B. Hoddinott, wharf superintendent for the Union Steam Ship Company at Suva, arrived at Auckland by the Matua yesterday with Mrs. Hoddinott to spend two months' leave in New Zealand.
Mr. A. J. Deakin, of the firm of Evans, Deakin and Company, Limited engineering contractors, of Brisbane' which is associated in the construction of the Jubilee Bridge at Brisbane, left for Wellington by the limited express last night.
Mr. W. D. Olney, recentlv manager of the Commercial Bank of Australia at Palmerston North, will succeed Mr. A. M. Kilgour. manager of the bank at Timaru for the last six years, who has been appointed to a position at Srcan Hill, Victoria.
Mr. W. A. Boucher left by the Wanganella yesterday on a business trip to England, the Continent, Canada and the United States. He is accompanied by Mrs. Boucher and his daughter, and expects to be away for six months. They will feave from Sydney for London by the Narkunda'on January 9.
Mr. G. C. Codlin, who was recently appointed general manager of the Argus, Melbourne, accompanied by Mrs. Codlin, arrived at Wellington by'the Awatea yesterday on a holiday visit, states a Press Association message from Wellington. Mr. Codlin was for many years general manager of the- Net Zealand Herald. He will take over his new duties on February 1. - %
Squadron-Leader the Rev. A. G. Kayll, M.A., R.A.F., returned to New Zealand by the Awatea, which arrived at Wellington yesterday. He is making a short visit to his parents, the Rev. Canon and Mrs. J. L. A. Kayll, of Waihi. For the past three years Squad-ron-Leader Kayll has been stationed it Hinaidi, the Royal Air Force aerodrome in Irak. His commission gs a Royal Air Force chaplain having been extended, he will return to England next month. Squadron-Leader Kayll is an old boy of the Auckland Grammar School and the Hamilton High School.
