PLAYER GOES BLIND

ACCIDENT IN SOCCER MATCH BALL CAUSES CONCUSSION LONDON, Jan. 1 Alex Finlay, the Bolton Wanderers' left back, was the victim to-day of one of the strangest accidents that ever happened on a Soccer field. Playing against Arsenal, he attempted to head a heavy ball, which landed on the back of his head. He continued playing for 10 minutes, after which ho went blind in the left eye. A doctor diagnosed the trouble as concussion and temporary blindness.. The Daily Mail's medical authority suggests that a possible cause is hemorrhage of the baso of the skull. Finney may be suffering in a similar way to boxers who become "punchdrunk."
