Nelson, of Wellington, yesterday afternoon during a heavy rainstorm. Mr. Drinkwater was thrown clear of the car. but he suffered a broken leg and head injuries. He was admitted tfl the Whakatane Hospital. A Maori. Jimmie Ruawai, aged 20, while crossing the Etreet in Whakatane late last night, slipped on the kerb and fell as a motor-ear driven by Mr. D. Whittle was passing. The bumper of the car struck Ruawai, who suffered head injuries and shock. He was ad* mitted to the Whakatane Hospital.

Her condition is reported to be serious. The car was driven by an 18-yeal* old youth, Herbert Kent, and the passengers were his mother, Mrs. C. Kent, Mr. G. F. Robson, were involved a collision at the intersection of Bridfi® and Tisdall Streets, near the Hamilton police station,, on Thursday evening Both vehicles overturned and siderable damage was done. None of occupants, however, was serious hurt.
