Tho course at the start was heavy and holding on account of rain the previous night, but it hardened during the day. The racing provided excellent finishes. TURF IN AUSTRALIA WARWICK FARM MEETING LATHARNA WINS NARROWLY (Received January 3, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 3 The Warwick January Handicap at the Warwick Farm meeting yesterday provided a thrilling finish, Latb.arna, Fireman and Loud Applause finishing almost in lino in that order. Trainer Bailey Payten won three successive races, the Maiden Handicap, in which Treasure Trove was second, with Valpan, the Nursery Handicap, for colts and geldings, in which Late Night was second, with Micawber, and the Nursery Handicap, for fillies, with Byculla.
