NOTES ON RUNNING INGENUITY'S GOOD FINISH [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] MARTON, Saturday Conditions for the concluding day of the Marton Jockey Club's Summer Meeting were a decided improvement on the first day, bright sunshine prevailing. Otaki scored his second win at the meeting when he overhauled En Vidette over the final stages of the Ladies' Necklace. Otaki won convincingl.y. With L. G. Morris in the saddle Candico was favourite for the Junction Plate, but failed to concede 251b. to Old Surrey, who lias raced consistently. Old Surrey ranged alongsido Candico crossing the top and ran away in the straight for an easy win. Mother-in-law was a trifle hard to handle at the barrier but afterwards ran a promising race. Missal was a close fourth after having dropped back in the early stages. Lord Hereford improved on his first day's displa* to win the Tutaenui Hack Hurdles, for which lie was elected favourite at a very short price. Sandrift, Midacre, Lord Hereford and Count Willonyx was the order down the back. Count Willonyx led Lord Hereford into the straight, whore Sandrift died away. The winner held off a strong .challenge from Count Willonyx, who should win in his turn. Laggard came from well back to win the Summer Hack Handicap after stalling off a determined challenge from Cloudy Bay, who had been at the rear on the home turn. Wee Lap made the pace but failed to run on. Royal King tonrk charge of his rider after passing the winning post and bolted a circuit before being pulled up. Arctic King, judiciously handled, came strongly in the straight to win the Aid worth Stakes, for which he was favourite. Hunting Queen was turned sideways at barrier-rise and tailed the Held all the way. Gw.nd Jury was the pacemaker from Entail, Corroboree, Arctic King and Lapel, but went under by half a length. Lapel (lashed up on the inside over the last hundred yards to get third, only half a neck away. Entail, after dropping back on the home turn, came again wide out to bo a head away fourth.

Hunting Lodge was cut out at tho start of the Telegraph Handicap, but could have had little chance with the consistent Mata Hari, who led all the way to win convincingly. Pin Money, making a reappearance after a lengthy absence, went well to keep Royal Routine out of second. Invoice was favourite but appeared to meet trouble after going a couple of furlongs. Pango, favourite for tho Crofton • Hack Cup, appeared to have the race won when he overhauled the pacemaker, War Lap, a furlong from home, but in tho last few yards Ingenuity swoo|)ed down on the leaders to win by half a neck. War Lap, who had been several lengths ahead for tho greater part of thy journey with his rider looking round, hung on - well, being only a head behind Pango. Tractile was a fair fourth, with Entheos beaten off.

Lifeguard was favourite for tho concluding event, in which there were only four starters, but after making the pace with Kia Tore to the straight ho went under to Lady Ina's challenge. Lady Ina finished very fast to win by a short half-length. Kia Tere was threo lengths back, stopping badly. Etiquette, who threatened danger at the straight entrance, also stopped quickly.
