NEW YORK WORLD FAIR
INVITATION TO AUSTRALIA . UNLIKELY TO EXHIBIT CANBERRA. Jan. ] Official circles states that it is not likely that the Common wealth Government will exhibit nationally at the New York World Fair in 1930, but private exhibitors may take part. Details received by the Government reveal that the Fair will be opened at flushing Bay, Long Island, in April, 1939. The site covers 1236 acres. The total investment in the exhibition is expected to be about £33,000,000. The Commonwealth also is not likely to exhibit on the International Show Boat. President Roosevelt sent a wireless greeting on November 23 to the organisers of the New York World Fair describing it as "n challenge to all Americans who believe in the destiny of the nation." The sale of 27,829,000 dollars' worth of debentures to finance the fair began on tho same day.
