YEAR'S LARGE GAIN , INCREASE OF £908,0(10 { EQUAL TO 22 PER CENT i HIGH DECEMBER FIGURES No better proof of trade recovery could be found than in the customs, excise and sales tax collections at Auckland for the calendar year 1936. The total amount received from all sources was £4,973,25], an increase of £903,082 over the previous year's figure, and representing a gain of nearly 22£ per cent. The equivalent percentage a* year ago was only 3.-5. For December the returns, except that for motor spirit duty, were the highest for a long period.
