OFFENCE OF BESETTING WOMAN TO PAY COSTS [from OCR ow>- correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Thorsday A warning to the owne? of a house at Buckland, Sophie Ellen Swan, married, that she was not entitled to molest the occupants although she wished to regain possession of the dwelling, was given by Mr. S. P. Day, •J.P., in the Pukekohe Police Court yesterday, when a special sitting of the Court was held to deal with a charge against Mrs. Swan of besetting. Robert Douglas, a married man with 10 children, and his wife, both gave evidence that they were the occupiers. The husband had been in Mrs. Swan's employ, working on her farm. He left on December 21, but did not vacate the house as he could not find another. Mrs. Swan had continued to come to the house and annoy them by trying to force them to leave. Sergeant Cowan said that the police had had to warn Mrs. Swan that she nas acting illegally. However, she had continued to beset the dwelling. In dismissing the charge on condition that Mrs. Swan paid 14s costs, Mr. Day said that if she came before him again for acting as she had been doing he would impose a substantial penalty.
