An order has been issued by the Minister of Health, Sir Kingsley Wood, fixing July 1 as the appointed day for bringing the relevant provision of the 1935 Housing Act, into operation in a further 150 areas, which were exempted from the first order issued in June, 1035, and a subsequent order, owing to the extent of overcrowding in those areas as revealed in the recent survey and the need for extra time to cope with the problems. Several metropolitan boroughs and largo provincial towns are included among the areas affected by the new order. Out of a total of 1477 areas in the country as a whole, only 59 remain where the Act will not be in operation bv July.
