MOKE REGISTRATIONS FIGURES FOR THE YEAR NO VERY LARGE CONCERNS A largo increase occurred in the number of companies registered in Auckland during the year just closing. Largely owing to the registration last year of a company with a capital of £'11,000,000, this year's nominal share capital oi £2,140,238 can hardly he compared with the total for last year, £12,760,000, but it easily exceeds the totals of the live preceding years. In 1933 there were 300 registrations; in 1932, 295; 29.'! in 1931; 327 in 1930, and 321 in 1929. The total nominal share capital in 1931 was £1,318,000; in 1933 it was £1,517,000; and was £1,435,000 iu 1932; £1,322,000 iu 3931; and £2.017,000 in 1930. A slight decrcaso is shown this year in the number of public companies registered. As against 32 last year there were 30 this year, and against the nominal share capital of £12,149,000 last, year, of which £11,000,000 was accounted for l\v New Zealand Forest Products, Limited, the nominal capital of the public companies this year was £1,451,115.

There were several companies with capital of over £50,000 and one private com pan v with nominal share capital of £BO,OOO.

A large group of companies, numbering over 50, was concerned with local manufacturing industries, clothing and engineering ventures predominating, Three of the public companies were registered for goklmining, their total capital being £42,000, as against £87,000 for four companies • last year. As a contrast to the large public companies of over £IOO,OOO capital there was one of £IOO, called Rot.orua Maori Choir, Limited, and another of £lO for King's School. A large number of the private companies ranged from £IOO upward and many were for £IOOO or £2OOO.
