BAN ON PLAYS ENDING
QUEEN VICTORIA'S REIGN A POPULAR DECISION [from a special correspondent] LONDON, Dec. 12 A statement was issued this week by the Lord Chamberlain, the Earl of Cromer, that, by permission of the King, plays dealing with the life of Queen Victoria, can be considered for production after June 20, 1937. This date has been selected as being the centenary of Queen Victoria's accession to the Throne. The announcement will be welcomed in stage circles as paving the way for the public production in this country of several brilliant plays dealing with Queen Victoria which have hitherto been forbidden. Most prominent among these i« "Victoria Regina," by Mr. Laurence Housman, the author of a series of Victoria plays, which have been one of the biggest theatrical successes in New York, where the censorship restrictions do not apply.
