Sir James Parr, of Auckland, is visiting New Plymouth. Mr. S. Y. Jones, secretary to the Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. (j, Webb, left for Wellington last night. Bishop Holland and Mrs. Holland were to leave Wellington yesterday for a month's motor tour of tho North Island. Mr. J. V. Burton, first assistant master at Wesley College for the past 10 years, has been appointed to the staff of the Wellington Technical College. Lord Balfour of Burleigh, who is a director of the National, Bank of New. Zealand, returned from North Auckland yesterday, and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. A. E. Little, overset of the Bills and Gazette fioom, Government Printing Office, Wellington, is retiring on superannuation after 38 years' continuous service. Mr. M. Clark, formerly of Hamilton, has been transferred from the Well-, ington office of the London and Liverpool and Globe Insurance Offico to the Auckland office. Mr. E. C. Cox, until recently traffio manager of the Southern Railway, England, will arrive in the Narkunda on Saturday. He will be visiting the main resorts of the Dominion. Dr. J. J. C. Bradfield, the chief engineer of the Sydney Harbour bridge, is coming to Auckland next month to attend the annual convention of the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science. He will give a paper on the progress of the big bridge he is now constructing at Brisbane. The Eev. Dr. J. Dickie, principal of the Presbyterian Theological Hall, Dunedin, who has been visiting Britain,,, to deliver the Gunning lectures, wilt leave on January 8 on his return to New Zealand. He proposes to visit Switzerland, Germany and Italy ami to join a steamer at Naples.
