A special clearance of street receivers in the city urea will he made at 0 p.ni., hut a night clearance will not be made. New Year's Day.—Will be observed as a close holiday. Mails usually despatched before 7.15 a.m. will close at -I a.m., and those after 7.15 a.m. at the latter hour, with the exception that mails for Southern offices for despatch by the limited express will close at the Chief Post Office, Auckland, at 5 p.m. Late fee, Chief Post Office, 0.15 p.m., railway station box, 0.50 p.m. Only parcels on which the express transit fee has been paid will he despatched. The night clearance of street receivers and the special clearance at 3 p.m. of suburban post offices will be made as usual. Saturday.—All branches will bo open for business.
