THOROUGHBRED SALES WESTMERE STUD DISPERSAL Catalogues for the national thoroughbred sales which, it is claimed, include the most comprehensive lot of yearlings yet oll'orod for sale in New Zealand, are available from the auctioneers. These sales, established 11 years ago, have grown into such importance that they are now renowned throughout the world. In addition to 134. yearlings, several stallions, brood mares, two-year-olds, untried stock and race horses in training will also be submitted. Tho salo will be held at Trentham on Thursday, .January 21. Two days prior to the national sales, there is being dispersed at Westmero, Wangunui, tho stud of Mr. John Donald, who is retiring owing to continued ill-health. His sale will be held at Wcstinere at 1.30 p.m. on January 19. Mr. Donald is sending down his usual draft of yearlings to the national sales. These will again be sold without reserve, as will the thoroughbred stud itself. Twenty-two of tho mares have foals at foot by Beau Pore, Captain Bunsby, Colonel Cygnus and Irish Lancer. Tho mares lmvo all again boon mated with Beau Pero and Phaleron Bay. Tho former is a half-brother to the successful Gay Shield and his first foal was a winner in England this season. Phaleron Bay is a three-quarter brother to Miracle, winner of the Eclipse Stakes, and there are other famous winners from his dam, and his grand-dam is a half-sister to tho famous mare Sea pa Flow, whoso progeny have established a record for tho world.
