HOLIDAY FEATURES SNAPSHOTS AT ELLERSLIE RACING COMMISSION'S INQUIRY Pictures in keeping with the holiday season uro prominently featured in the current issue of Thb Wkekly News, on sale to-day. Fine weather, an excellent attendance and a large increase in totalisator investments marked the opening of the Auckland Racing Club's Summer -Meeting on Boxing Day. A page of lawn snapshots and two piiges of racing pictures, including Cuddle's great victory in the Auckland Cup, arc of particular Auckland interest. Scenic pictures of Waihi Beach, Matiatia and Piha, a magnificent aerial study of the Auckland waterfront and principal business area, an exclusive portrait of .Mrs. Ernest Simpson, and wedding photographs from Dunedin, Hawke's Bay, Wellington and Wanganui are further features of the illustrations. Excellent holiday reading is provided bv the magazine pages. James Agate, the noted English dramatic critic, writes a witty, highly-entertaining article entitled "The Six Best Things in Life." Other items include an article on the 10 best films of 1936, two short stories and instalments of three serials. Problems that face the Racing Commission, which is; to sit early next year, are discussed by "Spearmint" in the sporting pages. A page of caricatures of members of the English cricket team now touring Australia will be regarded by all followers of the game as a valued souvenir.
