HORSE BEATEN IN RACE JESSE OWENS AT HAVANA (Received December 27, 6.5 p.m.) HAVANA, Dec. 20 The famous American negro runner Jesse Owens in his first appoarance as professional, with a handicap of 40 yards, defeated a racehorse in a 100 yards dash by 20 yards in 9.9 seconds. Ho said he was satisfied with his performance and was confident that he could defeat all but the fastest horses from scratch.
