LINERS AS HOTELS

CORONATION VISITORS NOVEL LONDON PROPOSALS [from our own cohhesponuknt] LONDON. Dec. 5 More than 20 shipping companies have applied for permission to anchor vessels in the Thames during the Coronation celebrations to act as floating hotels. The ships will be cruising vessels bringing visitors from all parts of the world to attend the festivities, and if tho Port of London Authority grant the requests for mooring facilities they will lie at various stages between Giavesend and Lojidon Bridge. "We are now sorting out the applications so that we can give careful consideration to the question,'' stated an ollicial. "Many problems will have to be dealt with, and one of the most important will be that of tonnage. "Wo can take vessels up to (5000 tons as far as Loudon Bridge, but it is usually only colliers with collapsible funnels which go beyond London Bridge. "We hope to be able to find accommodation for as many as possible of those who have applied for berths. There will be one stipulation; that is, that tho vessels must all be genuine cruising ships bringing people from abroad." It is estimated that if berths wero allotted for 21 vessels between Gravesend and London Bridge accommodation for about 12,000 people would be provided.
