GOVERNMENT CONTROL CHANGE ON FEBRUARY 1 [liY TELKORAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WELLINGTON, Friday Tho Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, announces that final arrangements have been completed between the Government and the Flock House Trustees for the property and farm-training establishment at Flock House to bo taken over by the Department of Agriculture from February 1. The Government is satisfied that Flock House, and similar organisations run on the soundest lines, should be an integral part of the educational svstem of the Dominion, so that every suitable boy who desires to make a living on the land should be given an opportunity of receiving a thorough grounding in practical and theoretical farm work before entering upon employment, The fullest use will be made of the Flock House organisation, and the services available to the Government, to make the training as thorough and sound as possible, not only JU practical farm work, but in the highest ideals of character and citizenship. The plans of the Government are not yet fully developed, but the boys, after completion of their initial training at Flock House, will be found employment with good larmers, and will receive sympathetic oversight and direction, it 'is hoped to go further than this, and later to give opportunities and assistance to all those who prove worthy. The training and maintenance at Flock House will now be free to all boys who comply with tho requirements of medical fitness, personal character and desire for a fanning career. In the meantime the number in training will be limited to sixty boys so that early application for enrolment should be made.
