JUVENILES GO WELL HUNTINGMORE'S half-mile Six FURLONGS BY KILONSA BY "ARCHEK Smart half-miles by the two-year-olds Huntiugmore and White Foam and solid' efforts over six furlongs by Kilonsa. Gay Broney, Big Dook and Sliy were features of the training operations at Ellerslie yesterday. The No. 1 grass, which provided fast going, was available for galloping and the sand and the tan were also used. On the grass Kilonsa (Fergus), after running the first three in 39 l-ss, was going strongly at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.17 3-5. Kilonsa is training on nicely and should give a good Account of herself in her engagements at the summer meeting. Tybalt (Wiggins) completed useful work.with-three furlongs in 41 3-ss. He is Carrying a very bright appearance, but has not been required to do a great deal-since racing last month. Huntiugmore (Gilchrist) ran right away from the Yaals—Many Charges gelding (Murray) over half a mile in 49 4-ss, t.hc latter taking 50 3-ss. Huntiugmore, who appears to have benefited by his racing at the Takapuna meeting, carried only a light, weight, but hit out with great freedom. Gay Broney (McTavish), with J olio Banco (Trcmain) to assist over the last four, went six furlongs in 1.18 4-5,. the last four in 50 2-ss. He seems to be thriving on his work and is showing improved condition. The same applies • to Jolie Dance, who shows promise. Shy and Big Dook Shy (Jenkins) and Big Dook (Goldinch) were associated over three furlongs in 1v 17 4-s',' the first three in 39 2-os. There was little between them .at the finish, although Shy, who was on the outside, appeared to be going slightly the better. Backblock (light boy) and Tooley ;Street (Kearns) sprinted three furlongs in 39 2-ss, and both hit out freely. Tooley Street has freshened up since he last'raced. Fleetwind (Gilchrist), after running the first three in 3S 4-os, got to the end of six furlongs in 1.17 2-5. Her stable mate. White Foam (Gilchrist) also went nicely in. sprinting half a mile in 50 2-55,. White Foam is carrying ail improved appearance. Manatere (Fergus) and the Surveyor .—Llanore filly (Wiggins) finished clear of Aero King (Trcmain) at the end of half a mile in 51 4-ss. Manatere is showing some improvement, but Aero King was not bustled. Pladie (Tremain) covered seven furlongs in 1.34. 2-5, the first three in 40 2-5s and the last four in 545. He is a lazy worker, but has freshened up a good deal since reaching Ellerslie. His trainer, J. M. Cameron, was present to see him work. Glen Abb (A\ iggins) and Tidewaiter (Goldfinch) ran an easy five furlongs in l-.1l 2-5. School Song (Jenkins) ran his first three in 40 4-5s and completed six furlongs in J. 22 He is. on the improve. Gay CaVnKer (Smith) and 'Silver Sound (Fergus) ran five furlongs in 1.7. Bon Star (Manson) hit out nicely oyer three furlongs in 37 2-ss. Miss Appellant (Gilchrist 1 * ran the same distance casilv in 44 4-SS. " ✓ On the tan' Salva (Coon) finished her work with four furlongs in 55.4-os. Ringshot (McTavish) and High Star (Williams) covered five furlongs in 1.10. Ringshot is showing improved condition.
Knight of Australia's Task Speedfast (Coon) completed a serviceable task with half a mile in 575. Knight of Australia (Dulieu) worked solidly over a round, running the last seven furlongs in 1.37 4-5 and the last half-mile in 55 2-ss. Waitaka (Murray) and Dialogue (Fergus) were timed to run four furlongs in 53-4-os. Kelly (Mclavish) did strong work over- a round, striding home the last six furlongs in 1.30. Carshalton (Turve.v) was schooled over hurdles and gave a satisfactory display. He afterwards did a working gallop on the grass, running the last mile in 1.51. Digitalis (Turvey) was tried over the pony hurdles and fenced without mistake, although she jumped very high. T'he sand and the tan were extenlively used for pace work and horses to perform useful tasks included Scotland, Silver Ring, Master Brierly, King Neptune, Psychologist, Small Boy, De Friend, Golden Blonde and Legatee. Silver Ring is still sore and went scratchily, although ho did not go very fast.
AWAPUNI GALLOPS
MARTARA'S USEFUL MILE FIVE FURLONGS BY CROONER [by telegraph OWN correspondent] PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday Weather and track conditions were excellent for training operations at Awapuni this morning. The outside ot the course proper was available, but several trainers were content to exercise their charges on the plough. The Great Northern Derby candidate, Martara (Tattersall), ran a mile in 1.51. He maintained an even 15s to the furlong, until he quickened over the last three furlongs in 'lis. it is the intention of his owner, to him a race at Otaki on Saturday, prior to going to Auckland. Dungarvan (L. A. Pine), who is a lazy worker, ran three fnrlongs_ in 445. Dungarvan will not race at EUershe. but will contest the Manawatu Cup. Limbohu ran the last three furlongs of his task on the plough in 41 2-ss. Round Score (S. Anderson) and Gold Nymph (W. J. Broughton) ran a mile in 1.52. Taumm; (W. J. Broughton), who will revert to high-weight company at the Manawatu meeting, ran six furlongs in 1.25. and should have good prospects. Silent Acre (A. McDonald) and xinesko (S Anderson) left six f'• rlongs behind on the plough in I.IJI- - former shows a lot of promise. Vonia Park (J. Chaplin) sprinted three furlongs in .'l9s. ■ Crooner (B/'oughton) and Bluffer (Anderstonran five furlongs in 1.0. •Crooner is to race-at Ellerslie.
