THIS YEAR'S WINNERS

At the annual distribution of prizes at the Oiiehunga District School yesterday the Buchanan awards were presented to Nancy I,egg and Bruce W adman. The prizes were given by Mr. and .Mrs. Hubert Buchanan, of Onehimga. "to those pupils who had shown the greatest capacity lor overcoming obstacles and whose school work, apart from its quality, had shown in the greatest degree those characteristics of determination and integrity that have so largelv contributed to the building up of the British Empire." Each award certificate was accompanied by a cheque for £o, representing the interest on a capital sum invested in perpetuity with the Public Trustee. At the. To Papapa School, Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan presented the Buchanan Awards to Nola Wright and George Melville Simpson.
