GUARANTEED PRICE

FARMERS URGE ABOLITION STRONG PROTEST AT DRURY Strong comment against the legislation affecting primary producers was made at a meeting of the Drurv branch of the Farmers' Union on Monday, when the following resolutions passed: That this meeting urges the Now Zealand Farmers' Union to bring pressure to bear upon the Government to abolish the guaranteed price for butterfat, on the grounds that the Government has failed miserably to provide New Zealand farmers with a decent standard of living, per medium of guaranteed prices, in comparison with other sections of the community. Failing the Government abolishing the guaranteed price, this branch urges the union to ask the Government to resign, as it never got a mandate to confiscate the dairy produce of the country. Failing the Government resigning, we ask the whole of the New Zealand farmers to petition the Governor-General to dissolve Parliament and save the farmers from bankruptcy. That the union be asked to impress upon farmers the necessity of preparing for an extensive election campaign to ensure proper representation in Parliament, and that the whole farming community stage a united front to free the country from a socialistic Government.

Members of the branch urged the restoration of open markets, with reciprocal trade agreements and tariff reform to favour Empire trade.
