FIRM'S INCOME TAX FINE OF £5 INFLICTED [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON. Tuesday A charge of failing to furnish income tax returns was preferred against E. jR. Smith, Limited, cartage contractors, of Hamilton, in the Hamilton Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M. Mr. J. R. Fitz-Gerald, for the department, said returns had not been furnished since the firm commenced operations in 1931. The manager admitted having been negligent in the matter.

A fine of £5 was imposed, with costs £2 12s.
