CONSUL FAREWELLED
ROTARY CLUB TRIBUTE WEEKLY LUNCHEON HELD A farewell to the United States Consul, Mr. W. F. Boyle, a club member of long standing, was extended at the weekly luncheon of the Auckland Rotary Club, held in Milne and Choyce's Reception Hall yesterday. Mr. Boyle has been transferred to Guatemala.
The president, Mr. D. Henry, said the club had come to value Mr. Boyle very highly during the past 11 years. At times they had almost forgotten that ho was not a New Zealand citizen. In this ho had shown them a great example of how to mix with the community and yet maintain premier loyalty to his own country. He had given them a very fine conception of a great people and one of the greatest compliments he could pay him was to say ho had proved himself a good Rotarian.
In thanking Mr. Henry, Mr. Boyle, who gave an address on " The New Deal in Latin America," said he was going away against his own choice.
Members of the Consular Corps were present bv invitation, their places being marked by appropriate national Hags. Consuls, vice-consuls and trade agents and commissioners present, with the countries they represent, were: — Messrs. C. M. Croft and H. L. K. l'riestman (Canada), C). J. Thedens (Austria). L. A. Bachelder (United States), F. S. Hattley (Argentina), A. M. Ferguson (Belgium), C. E. Tudehope (Finland), N. Heath (Latvia), G. H. Baker (Peru). 1). L. Nathan (Portugal), Professor R. M. Algie (Czechoslovakia), Captain F. Bauer (Netherlands), and two club members, Messrs. J. McKenzie Wilson (Chile), and J. T. F. Mitchell (Sweden). Visitors welcomed included two Rotarians, Messrs. F. Hill (Melbourne), and L. C. Trembath (Whangarei), and Messrs. P. E, Patrick (Wellington), C. F. Jones (Cambridge), and A. t>. Sibun, C. T. Jonas and T. V. Kane (Auckland).
