ALMANAC OMISSION
PORT KAIAPOI MISSED INDIGNATION EXPRESSED [BY TEI/EGBAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION'] t CIIRISTCHURCH, Monday Indignation at the omission of any reference to Port Kaiapoi from the Nautical Almanac was expressed in an interview by the chairman of the Waimakanri Harbour Board, Dr. Maxwell Ramsay. "My attention has been drawn to the fact that Kaiapoi Harbour is not mentioned in the current almanac," he said. "Kaiapoi is one of the oldest harbours in Canterbury with a permanent staff, and a fair seasonal trade. This omission and the extraordinary error in the depth of Oamaru Harbour make one wonder if the almanac is reliable. "Kaiapoi Harbour," he added, "is in better order now than it lias been for years. The Waimakariri is establishing a new mouth, and in a few days should scour out an excellent channel. A stable mouth will effectually squash that absurd Port Christchurch scheme."
