HOSPITAL BOARD AREAS OPPOSITION AT THAMES [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] THAMES, Monday The Thames Hospital Board spent over two hours in committee to-day, discussing the principle of amalgamation with the Waihi and Coromandel districts, and the attitude to be adopted at the coming conference, btv fore Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., at Paeroa next week. ' It was decided to object to the reconstitution of the district on the score of the extra expense to the board's ratepayers. A committee consisting of Messrs. W. Danbv, D. Courtney, W. C. Kennedy, C. W. Parfitt and P. Brennnn was set np to give evidence before the commission.

CONFERENCE AT WAIHI LOCAL BODIES' VIEWS [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] "WAIHI, Monday Representations to be made in regard to hospital boundaries before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., were discussed at meetings of local bodies and organisations interested. The Waihi Hospital Board decided to support the extension of boundaries, and later conferred with representatives of the Waihi Borough Council, the Waihi Chamber of Commerce and the local branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union. Strong support was given by the Chamber of Commerce delegates to tlio hospital board's decision. The Farmers' Union representatives favoured amalgamation on the lines of Dr. T. H. A. Valintine's scheme. The Mayor, Mr. W. M. Wallnutt, said tli at the first essential was the removal of the " barbed-wire entanglements " around the Waihi Hospital district, so that all people residing in t'iie extensive farming areas surrounding Waihi, and including Whangamata, should have access to the Waihi Hospital. The borough had been .lighting for the amalgamation of the Thames and Waihi districts for over 20 yearsNo resolution was put to the meeting.
