DUNLOP SHIELD GAMES MATCHES AT ROTORUA VICTORY FOR WHAKATANE [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] ROTORUA, Monday The first inter-club tennis matches of the season in the Dnnlop Shield competition were played on the courts in the Government Gardens at the week-end between Rotorua and Whakatane. The visitors won by 12 matches to four. Although it rained early in the morning, for tho greater part of the day bright sunshine was enjoyed. Tho results are as follow, Whakatane players being mentioned first in each case:— Men's Singles.—M. Lees bent F. M. B. Fisher, 6—5, o—Howell lost to Turner, o—s, 2—o, 2 —B; D. "Wilson beat W. TOWN VERSUS COUNTRY MATCHES AT HAMILTON [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON", Monday The annual town versus country match was held on Saturday on the courts of the Hamilton Lawn Tennis Club.
