FAILURE TO WAIT

TRAFFIC OFFICER'S REQUEST LORRY OWNER FINED £lO Non-compliance with a request by a traffic officer led to Victor Lewis Shuter, motor-lorry owner, being prosecuted in the Papakura Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M. Frederick Jones, traffic officer, said that on August 5 at Drury he stopped a six-wheel lorry that was being driven north by defendant. It was fully laden and he told defendant to wait for a minute or so until he could examine the load and weigh the lorry. Witness was weighing another lorry at the time, and while he was still thus engaged, defendant remounted his own vehicle and drove on at a very high speed. Defendant was fined £lO and 10s costs. He was also fined £2 and costs for carrying goods without having a goods service licence.
