INSTITUTE AFFAIRS

Taneatua. —Mrs. E. Hill presided at the November meeting. A presentation was made to the vice-president, Mrs. T. Henderson, who will shortly icavo the district. In the competition for a Christmas novelty Mrs. Henderson came first with Mrs. Hill second. A competition for scones was won by Mrs. E. Hill with Mrs. Yeoman second. Much amusement was caused by a display of old photographs. The hostesses were Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. McGougan and Mrs. Tcppitt. Matata. —A garden party was held at the home of Mrs. Smith, the proceeds being divided between the Plunket Society and the health stamp campaign. Games were played and competitions held. The winner of the golf competition was Mrs. Warbrick and of the mystery parcel, Mrs. Magee. Excellent business was done at the produce stalls. Waimana-Nukuhau. Mrs. field presided over the last meeting at which a talk on first-aid was given by Mrs. C. Wylde. A demonstration of wool novelty-making was given by Mrs. Burnett and a. reading from Dickens by Mrs. .Terrain was much enjoyed. A "competition for gooseberry jam was won by Mrs. McTver and one for a Christmas novelty by Mrs. Wardlaw. Mrs. H. Bell came first in a competition for the best flower, with Miss Wardlaw second and Mrs. Burrett third. A musical parcel was won by Mrs. Glover. The hostesses were Mrs. F. Bell, Mrs. Burnett, Mrs. Boynton and Mrs. Anderson.
