PARTY AT TAKAPUNA

SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS For tho third year in succession, Captain and Sirs. J. A. Algie entertained the members of the executive of the South African War Veterans and their wives, at their home, Hurstmero Road, Takapuna, on Saturday afternoon. Vases of sweet peas and nasturtiums decorated the lounge and dining room, where afternoon tea was served. As a mark of esteem, and to farewell Captain and Sirs. Algie, who will shortly leave for England, the Auckland and District Pipe Band and the Takapuna Citizens' Band were in attendance. Captain Algie is tho vicepresident of the former band and president of the latter. Among the ladies present were: Sirs. J. Hughes, Sirs. T. Gwillim, Sirs. J. T. Whit ford, Sirs. W. E. Linkhorn, Mrs. Shute, Sirs. A. Jones, Sirs. D. H. Henderson, Si iss Kathleen Bakewell, Miss Bobbie Speedy, Sliss Denton and M iss Stephanie Bakewell.
