POLICE COURT CHARGES
MAN REMANDED ON BAIL Arresfed at Pokeno at 1.45 a.m. on Saturday, Clement Robert Lawson, salesman and mechanic, aged 25 (Mr. Winter), later appeared before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court, charged with being a rogue and vagabond, in that he had in his possession implements for housebreaking.^ On the application of Detective-Ser-geant McHugh, a remand was granted until next.Saturday. Bail was fixed at £.IOO. When George Frederick Murphy was called on a similar charge, Mr. McHugh said the accused was in the Auckland Hospital, suffering from an injury received while he was being arrested. He would be jointly charged with Lawson, and a similar remand was requested. "I cannot remand him when he is not present to answer the charge," said the magistrate. "I assume that as soon as he is able, he will be brought before a magistrate," Mr. Wilson added, and Mr. McHugh said this would be done.
