An anti-cyclone has moved on to south-eastern " Australia. Indications are for north-west-erlv winds at first on parts of the east coast, but elsewhere \\ est to south-west a change to south-westerlies or southerlies becoming general within about 24 hours; moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force in some exposed positions. Seas rather rough to rough on the west coast and in the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas; moderate on the east coast, but rising later south of G'astlepoint. In . the eastern Tasmnn Sea moderate to strong south-westerly winds. Seas moderate to rather in tho northern portion and rather rough to rough in the southern portion Weather fine at first in most districts with mild temperatures, but cool and changeable conditions and passing showers probable, with a southerly change. The unsettled weather should not be of long duration.
SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST OCCASIONAL SHOWERS LIKELY Tho Government meteorologist issmjd to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds. Weather for the most part fine, with cool to moderate temperatures, but occasional passing shoirers probable. Seas moderate to* rather rough on the west coast and slight ia moderate on the east. WEEK-END WEATHER Auckland.—The weather in Auckland on Saturday was overcast and showery Light rain, which commenced shortly after mid-day. continued throughout the afternoon. There was a moderate westerly wind. Fine, sunny weather prevailed yesterday and conditions were mild. The barometer rose steadily throughout the day. Barometer, midnight, rising .. ao.inin Midnight, Saturday .. aa.asin. Wellington.—The sky on Saturday was overcast, with occasional mist and light rain in the afternoon. Heavi«r ram began at 5 p.m. and continued until about 2 a.m. A moderate north-north-west wind prevailed, and freshened considerably by evening. The maximum gust overnight was one of 53 miles an hour. The maximum temperature on Saturday was 57.6 degrees, and the minimum temperature on Saturday night was 53.1 degrees. The rainfall up to 9 a.m. yesterday was 0.36 in. It was warm and sunny yesterday, with a squally north-west wind. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees, and the temperature at 4 p.m. was 62.1 degree;;. Christchurch.—The day was overcast and cold on Saturday, with a fresh north-east wind There.were some light showers in the evening. Yesterday was fine and sunny, with the wind varying between north-west and north-east.' Dunedin.—There was a strong breea? from the north-east on Saturday. After a period of sunshine in the morning, showers fell in the afternoon. There was further sunshine early in the evening. The maximum temperature was 65 degrees, and the barometer fell from 30in to 29.40 in. The barometer continued low yesterday, and frequent electrical storms occurred.
