ARTS AND CRAFTS DISPLAY EXHIBITION BY MEMBERS The lounge of the Lyceum Club presented a very attractive appearance yesterday afternoon when the Arts and Crafts Circle hold nil exhibition of work, in place of Lady Wilson, who was unable to bo present, the show was opened by one of tho vice-presidents, Mrs. Stanley Chambers, who congratulated the members upon the excellence of their work. Advantageously set out in the centre of the lounge and around tho sides, the exhibits attracted much interest and admiration. Tapestry firescreens and stools, needlework pictures, pottery, paintings in oils, water-colours and pastels, photography, brass work, marquetry, lacquer and wool rugs, were but some of the many evidences of the industry, artistic taste and creative energy of tho woman of to-day. Of special interest was n, cabinet in which was seen a display of beautiful hand-wrought silver, Limoges enamel of exquisite colouring and hand-painted china of unusual design and finish. A collection of old Knglish pictures embroidered in silk in vivid yet harmonious tones was .also tho centre ol much interest. The needlework display included some very fine Carrickmatfross lace, cushions worked in Italian embroidery, crochet lace, handkerchiefs, embroidery and many other specimens of work. Tho wool rugs also met with ap]treeiative comment. Tho committee responsible for tho arrangement of the exhibits included the convener of the circle, Dr. Gladys HowIcy, Mrs. Hammond Hyde (honorary secretary), Mrs. Goldsmith, Mrs. 1. Macmorran., Mrs. Hewlett, Mrs. G. H. Metcalfe, Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Cowie, Mrs. l'billips and Miss Goldio. Members who exhibited included:— Mrs. "Dunning, Dr. Hilda Northcroft, Mrs. Lsemonger, Mrs. J. 'I atterstield, Miss C. Talbot, Miss Amy Holland, Mrs. H. J. Phillips, Miss I). Lavers, Mrs. Goldsmith, Mrs. C. Webber, Miss (). Havne, Mrs. R. Michaels, Mrs. J. Kear.v, Miss M. A. Parker, Mrs. Douglas Gray; also tho members of Mrs. Goldsmith's club class, including Dr. Gladys Rowlev, Mrs. Hammond Hyde, Miss Goldie, Miss Spicer. Mrs. Cowie, Mrs. L. T. Rapson, Mrs. Webb, Miss P. Lindsay, Mrs. Dickinson, Mrs. R. Macmorran'. Mrs. Burbush, Mrs. Graham Lindsay,' Mrs. G. H. Metcalfe. Mrs. Drewerv, Mrs. Kllett, Mrs. Brooks, Mrs. Pilkington, Mrs. A. F. Watson, Mrs. C. Colson. In appreciation of her services to the circle, which have been given voluntarily for the past three years, Mrs. Goldsmith was warmly thanked and was presented with a bouquet. An interesting address was given by Mrs. C. Webber on china painting, enamel, glaze and other features of ceramics. She was afterward presented with a sheaf of lilies by Mrs. Stanley Chambers. . A hiking song written by Miss Spicer and sung and acted by Miss Boreslord's pupils was a much appreciated item. Tea was served later in the afternoon.
