SHARP BLOW ON HEAD THIRD SIMILAR OCCURRENCE jj)V TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] PALMEKSTON NORTH, .Tuesday Another case of a young woman being assaulted near the city occurred on Saturday night. Although the victim received a blow on the head she escaped comparatively lightly. This was the third occurrence of its kind in three days.
The assault took place on a lonely section of road beyond Fitzherbert Bridge at the foot of a hill leading to Tiritea. The young woman was cycling home from town when she became aware that a man was following her. She heard his cycle approach from behind, and then received a sharp blow on the head. Her attacker made off, but she noticed that he was carrying a stick.
The frequency of these incidents 011 rural roads at night has caused some alarm. The circumstances of the assaults have been similar in each case. Miss Liiy Storey, who suffered a scalp wound in a brutal assault on the Foxton line on Thursday night, was discharged from hospital yesterday.
