MEMBERSHIP DESIRED DEFENCE OF THE SUDAN CAIRO, JTov. 22 The Speech from the Throne to-da.v announced that Egypt shortly will apply for entry to the Iveague of Nations, and will call a conference of the capitulatory Powers with a view to rapidly abolishing the capitulations. It is estimated that a question of sending an Egyptian contingent to assist in the defence of the Sudan is being discussed. The Army is being increased and equipped with modern war. material.
